Cultural Competency
Workshops and Tours

At Mabat, we believe that part of living in a multicultural society is being familiar with other cultures’ social and cultural traditions, and learning how to engage in a respectful and equitable manner. Cultural Competency Workshops and Tours do just this, providing the basic tools necessary to engage individuals from a variety of population groups with different cultural, linguistic and religious needs. Cultural Competency Workshops offer both theoretical and hands-on knowledge on multiculturalism, axes of cultural divides as experienced in Israeli society, discrimination, language conflicts and more.

Mabat currently leads three types of cultural competency activities:

Cultural Competency Training

Skill development workshops for people in diverse work environments. Trainings are tailored to each participating institution’s needs, and can include in-classroom workshops, combined workshop-tours and more. Mabat currently leads Cultural Competency training as a part of Beit HaNasi’s (the President’s House)‘Israeli Hope in Academia’initiative, for   faculty and administrators in Israeli colleges and universities.

Intercultural Tours

Day-long combined workshop/tours in culturally diverse locations, such as the mixed Arab-Jewish city of Haifa, combined with encounters with community activists and organizations, who share models for community leadership, integration and social change. Tour participants learn about the cultures and religions that make up the mosaic of Israeli society and gain first-hand insights about shared society, including the dilemmas and challenges of co-existence.

Outdoor Experiential Learning

Adventure Based Counseling (ABC) is an effective tool for organizational learning and development, and for staff and manager training. Mabat sessions help improve co-worker communication, mutual trust and overall working synergy, and refreshing manager toolkits for motivating employees. In addition, outdoor nature experiences combined with cultural competency training elements help participants develop skills for working in and managing diverse environments.
